Hey Yo, It’s Row Bow!
Swing open your wardrobe doors, we’ve made it to the season for winter apparel. It’s easy to switch the sundress for a snugdress and the bare legs for bulky trackies. But what can be a little trickier is: whatever do you swap the sandals for? Trainers are an obvious choice but they don’t make the biggest statement. Wellies would seem seasonally appropriate. However, knee high boots are the must have winter shoe this season. In fact knee high is the minimum! Thigh’s the limit where these boots are concerned. Whether leather or suede these boots will keep you trendy and toasty throughout the damper months.
Alexander Wang || Dune || New Look
First up is the classic country boot. Alexander Wang gave our trusty traditional boot a little twist. Adding a white leather heel and extending the brown topper of the boot over the knee, only at the front, Wang makes country suitably city. Dune have been inspired by Alexander Wang’s footwear and produced their own take on the classic country boot. Adapting the timeless style, Dune have kept Wang’s idea of the un-even shape at the top of the boot. These boots would be amazingly durable over winter walking to lectures come rain or snow. Teaming the boots with this chunky knit poncho, from New Look, and skinny jeans creates the perfectly cosy-chic outfit.
Gucci || Miss Diva || Miss Selfridge
Great for smart and casual events, the knee high brown boot will always be a popular look. Have a look at Gucci’s catwalk offering with the added tongue and buckle detail around the foot. Miss Diva offer boots with similar ideas for smaller purses. It’s always worth investing in a durable pair of winter boots, but £950 might be a little steep for a student investment. There’s something really 70’s about long brown boots. Stick with the theme and adorn this dusty pink wide brimmed hat from Miss Selfridge when wearing the boots. It adds eye-catching drama to the simplest of outfits.
Winter parties are the best time to crack out the knee high, and possibly thigh high, suede boots. Suede is far more fluid as a fabric compared to leather, so it flatter the whole legs as it clings tightly to the wearer. The Alice & Olivia Fall 2014 collection included these divine thigh high suede boots. Complete with a graphic zip down the centre front of the boots, they would complement a beautiful baroque skirt so well. These are definitely the kind of boots to be flaunted with a smidge of skin and a proper party skirt, like this one from Pop Couture. Check out ASOS’ New Look long suede boots if you want to get your hands on some.
Finally we reach the pièce de résistance, the boot to top all boots, to star of the show- the Glitter Knee High Boot. A showstopper at any occasion this Autumn/Winter, you’ll need to wear something just as amazing to complete the look. This short length, pale faux-fur jacket from Pretty Little Thing is the ideal contender. Try and chose a jacket in a similar tone to your sparkly boots. The models at Saint Laurent graced the catwalk in several variants of sparkles on their feet. It appears the high street isn’t so confident these would be such a success, so Dorothy Perkins’ glittery ankle boots may have to suffice. For Now…
Would you invest in any of these boots?
