Home » Lookbook » How to style a midi skirt…

For my second article I thought I would tell you about my obsession with midi skirts. I know their not to everybody’s taste and for a while I didn’t think I could pull off the look either but eventually I tried it out. I now love them and I am beginning to realise how versatile they can be. That’s what I am going to share with you in this post. I have worn them so many ways from pastels in the summer to heavy leather for the A/W transition. I have worn them with bralets, tees, crop tops and jumpers. I have dressed them up with heels and dressed them down with sneakers.

Here is a skirt that may look dressy on the hanger but as soon as I saw it I knew there was so much I could do with it.

Outfit One

Jumper – Zara | Skirt – Zara | Shoes – Zara

With the cream and black stripe I knew colour blocking would be easy. Heres look one. I teamed the skirt with a cream jumper and a pair of black shoe boots. The look would look great with court shoes or strappy sandals but I opted for these heels for the transition of A/W.

Outfit Two

Jumper – Zara | Shoes – The mules are summer stock but can be found on ebay now.

For look number two I want to show case how easy it is to swap the colours around making the outfit slightly different but still getting another wear out of the skirt. I teamed the skirt with a high neck black jumper with some off white mules. I would wear something like this to meet the girls for lunch, not too dressy but still super chic.

Outfit Three

Jumper – Zara | Shoes – Zara

Look number three. This look has to be my favourite of the three. The outfit would be perfect for running errands or sitting in your lectures at uni or college. Comfy but still super cool. I think the grey ties in really well whilst still working with the cream and black of the stripe. Teaming the skirt with pumps and a jersey jumper makes for a perfect sports luxe look making it very wearable.

Extra Outfits

Here are a few outfits I have already worn and how I will be transitioning them ready for the upcoming season. image_4

I wore this outfit for a meal with friends. Teaming this puff ball midi skirt with a bralet and mules it instantly dressed the look up. image_5By keeping the mules and the skirt on but taking away the bralet and adding a camel coloured knit instantly makes it wearable for a more relaxed look and perfect for the weather that is about to approach us. Throw on a coat and your ready to go, black would look nice too, even a leather jacket would look cool.

This is my favourite look to date. I got so many compliments when I wore this, so many people stopped and asked where the different Items were from. The white leather midi skirt is from Zara, it’s just to die for. Toning it down with a basic crop top and a pair of snakeskin pumps worked a treat, but this skirt can be worn 100 different ways, here’s one…

When the weather gets a bit cooler I can’t wait to team this skirt with a knit and heeled boots. With the skirt being white any colour knit would look perfect but in my example I kept the look monochrome with black, white and grey.
