We all know it gets cold in the UK but weather predictions say that this winter will be one of the coldest winters the UK has ever seen. Which leaves us no choice but to prepare in the best way possible. Thankfully, Winter 15/16 trends work in our favour as they include fur, wool and all sorts of fuzziness. In these conditions there are 3 bang on trend essentials to make your days warmer.
Parka with Faux Fur
Asos – £85.00
Faux Fur Lined Cape
Topshop – £98.00
Pile Coat
H&M – £49.99
Longline Check Coat
Forever 21 – £40.00
Not only is fur the latest trend, it is also the warmest trend. You need to be careful though because fur and rain might leave your coat smelling like a wet dog. Which is why something like the ASOS parka would be perfect because it is the perfect type of coat for rainy days but it still incorporates the fur concept. If you’re not so keen on the fur you can always revert to the classic wool-blend coat, guaranteed to keep you warm. The good thing is that with coats being so much of a trend this year whatever type of coat you choose you can still make a statement or be stylish. Take, for instance, the Topshop cape, a shape and style that gives you the popular boho-chic look. Yet with a little twist and fur lining it will be the warmest cape. Another twist is on the classic wool-blend coat. While traditional in material and structure, the bold check print gives it that extra umph.
Jumper Dress
ASOS – £38.00
Ribbed Turtleneck
Forever 21 – £15.00
Turtleneck Jumper
H&M – £19.99
Hanky Hem Jumper
New Look – £22.99
There’s nothing warmer than a knit turtleneck jumper and at the moment there is nothing more stylish either. Available in all shapes and shades, everyone needs one in their wardrobe. There are many ways you can style this piece; tucked in skirts or jeans, worn over shirts or over tights or leggings for a jumper dress. Easy to dress up or down, such a piece is also essential for layering which is quite a good trick if you’re eventually going to end up somewhere with central heating and the jumper becomes quite an extra.
Cream Bobble Hat
New Look – £7.99
Swirl Square Scarf
ASOS – £20.00
Knit Texting Glove
Forever 21 – £4.50
Wool Hat
H&M – £19.99
There is not much to say about these items really, they are just pure winter essentials. When the cold wind hits your ears or neck and you have none of these items to protect yourself with, you start hating yourself a little. Especially if you’ve been sitting all day in a lecture room or library where the central heating was so warm and cosy, stepping outside after that without these essentials can be quite brutal. As for those texting gloves, they’re not as efficient as the natural finger-tip but they do the job and they save me some of the good old frost-nip hands.
