European Fashion has always seemed slightly different to the UK style, and today, having returned from Berlin, I’ve felt inspired by some of the great looks available there. Stores such as Zara and H&M which originate from European Cities have always had a certain sophisticated edge to them, compared with the likes of New Look and Topshop, and here I am going to show you how to get some of the great European style that I have seen on the streets of Berlin these last few days.
Bomber Jacket
Monki – £30
Ribbed Cropped Vest
Topshop – £6
Casual Shorts
ASOS – £22
Nike Trainers
ASOS – £90
Sports
The influence of Sportswear for SS14 has undoubtedly come from Europe. Almost everywhere I looked on the S-Bahn and U-Bahn in Germany, people were sporting Nike’s with Running shorts, and I’ve seen more bomber jackets in one park than I have seen for sale in Britain! I love this outfit with the contrasting colours, the Asos shorts, with a white basic crop top look ultra stylish, and by adding in the Bomber Jacket and the Nikes you can complete the sports look. This would be a great summer outfit, particularly with the colour choices and flattering shapes.
Leather Biker Jacket
River Island – £100
Short Sleeve Dress
Zara – £25.99
Cut-Out Ankle Boots
Pull & Bear – £59.99
Neon
Sometimes us Brits can be scared to go daring. In Berlin however, explosive colour was everywhere, from the fashion to the graffiti. I love how confident people wearing the brighter colours appeared and feel it should come to Britain. This dress from Zara is a perfect statement piece and would look great at any occasions this season, and paired with these Pull and Bear Boots and River Island Leather Jacket, you have the perfect casual yet sophisticated look. Orange isn’t for everyone, but I can guarantee adding some neon to your wardrobe will get you walking tall and feeling great.
Kimono Sleeve Blouse
ASOS – £16.50
Tile Flocked Treggings
Topshop – £28
Fur Slip On Skaters
Topshop – £20
Black on Black
Monochrome has been a big trend in the UK and is a classic, however, I saw a huge amount of all black outfits which I adored. It looked so chic, especially as the women in Berlin seemed particularly daring with hair colour and style, making them the main focus, rather than their clothes. For a really relaxed day outfit, these Topshop Leggings and Slipons paired with this ASOS shirt would be super comfortable. If you are thinking of bleaching your hair this summer or trying out a new colour, an all black outfit is the best way to showcase this.
Have you been inspired by these European Fashion Trends?
Also, I would definitely recommend Berlin for anyone after a quick city break this Easter. It’s ridiculously cheap with an awesome vibe to the city, full of culture and history- definitely check it out!
