Spring is always a season in which we wish to ditch our coats and boots and opt for more lighter clothing in the hope the weather blossoms like the flowers. However, sometimes this doesn’t always work out and we can often buy things that don’t get much wear until the weather gets a little warmer in the summer months. So what spring trends are still around and passing through to summer?
Dresses are always a favourite and for SS14 the nineties have made a comeback meaning slip dresses are a key fashion trend. Think spaghetti straps and silky fabric paired with flats and a denim jacket would look perfect.
Checks and gingham have been a major trend so far this year and it doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. Think smock dresses, trousers paired with sandals and flowy t-shirts to give you a super cool look right on trend.
The warmer months are finally the time where we can ditch the tights and show off our probably fake tanned legs. Sometimes the weather isn’t always as great as expected and so a mid length flowy skirt would be great for those days when its not the warmest. Think 1950’s ladylike in pastel colours paired with a cute cardigan and statement necklace to give you the ultimate ladylike look.
The wedding season will be once again up on us and it’s all about the two piece co-ordinates. Think cute tailored shorts and a boxy matching jacket paired with a plain top and necklace for the perfect spring/summer wedding look. These are very popular on the high street at the moment with shops such a Primark featuring checked and flowery co-ordinates.
However trendy we may want to look this spring/summer we can’t forget about the accessories.
Sunglasses – Who can forget about these? Last year sunglasses seemed to go back to old style classics however this season it’s all about the shapes this spring/summer. Think round, hexagon, square, oval – sunglasses seem to have gone a little futuristic this year.
Sandals – A pair of good sandals are essential over the spring and summer months as it’s what most of us tend to live in. Depending on your style you can either stick to simple styles such as plain black or tanned sandals. Or if you are feeling more adventurous the ugly sandals have appeared in the stores. Think chunky, thick straps and damn right ugly.
Hats – When I think of wearing a hat in the summer I think of relaxing on a beach with a cocktail in one hand and a floppy hat on my head protecting my well groomed hair. Now as we all it doesn’t often work like that. But do not fear there is a hat out there for everyone. If you have shorter hair then go for a bowler style, for longer hair try a floppier hat, this could either be fabric or straw.
Most spring trends do carry on through to summer so never think when you are buying something in April when rain is pouring down outside that you won’t get your wear out of it when the sun comes out – chances are you probably will.
