Primary colours have been battling it out against one another to discover which shade can achieve maximum impact in the world of fashion this Spring/Summer. Using one colour in numerous shades is a style that can create a polished contemporary look.
The runways of Spring 2013 have been bombed with a burst of blue dominating the pop colour scene combining different accents of the shade in line with the various structures of a garment.
The colour hit the red carpet during the 2013 Golden Globes with stars like Rosario Dawson, Nicole Richie and Jessica Chastain displaying the sweetened tone for a more elegant and sophisticated expression.
From red carpet to high street, the look can be executed to fit your everyday wear. Travel and fashion blogger Jessica Stein (@tuulavintage) takes us to New York to show us how to work blue on blue on blue.

The rich sky blue blouse acts as the main body of the outfit using the darker print of the pants to create a balanced look. To avoid the outfit appearing too matching, the mild hint of the same blue coverage from the blouse is seen featured on the strap and sole of the grey sandals, allowing the outfit to co-ordinate. Finally, the overall finish is brought together with accessories that share the same shade of turquoise, which include a vibrant printed clutch, a chunky statement necklace complete with rings and nail polish. Accessories are fundamental towards allowing for a coherent expression and subsequently diminish the look from appearing a cluttered clash.
A colour chart is a good way to measure what tone constitutes a specific colour, which will enable you to depict complementary colours that can help create your look.
