Any Pretty Little Liars fans out there will understand where my inspiration for this post has come from. In the latest episode of the US teen drama we were taken back in time to a beautiful era full of wasp waists and fur coats. I am of course talking about film noir. In the episode the girls played detectives as they tried to uncover who the infamous ‘A’ could be. We saw Hanna in a polka dot puffball sleeve blouse whilst Spencer looked the picture of elegance in a floor length silk night dress that sunk in under the bust. Aria rocked a striped shirt with dark lips and Emily swapped the jeans for a slim fitting dress with an embellished neckline. This is when I asked myself, what happened to classic beauty?
So girls, I urge you to take a leap back in time. Ditch your fake tan and opt for a more natural look. If you want to take a leaf out of Hanna’s book then head over to Topshop where you can find a blouse in that same timeless polka dot print for £35. Tuck it into some high waist jeans to create a modern twist on the look, or keep it true to the style and pair it with a high waist pencil skirt.

As for Spencer’s beautiful night gown, have a look at Debenhams. They have an extensive range of exquisite night wear in many different colours. The one shown below has the same synched in shape, but keeps up with the modern times by having a shorter length, making it more practical. Plus it will only set you back £15.75!
