Set up by “likely lads” Dave and Howard, T Shirt Studio.com offers a range of products “Personalised by you… Printed by us”. They have kindly offered up some of their custom-printed items for us at SFB to review – here goes!
Contrary to what the name may suggest, they do not just print T-Shirts. Their range of clothing includes hoodies, sweatshirts, polo shirts, vest tops, fleeces, AND many different types of T-Shirts (who’d have known?), for men, women and children. They even offer printed thongs and boxers (is it ‘too far’ to get a pair with diamantes on like a va-jazzle?)
If you’re stuck for ideas they have loads of designs ready-made, from “I see dumb people” to “I scored high on my drug test”, or just a picture of a Labrador.
Their range of gift ideas is pretty varied too – mugs, mousemats, keyrings, teddies, tablewear, cushions, jigsaws, canvases and towels. I kind of want a cushion with my ex’s face on – not so I can cuddle it just so I can pummel it when I’ve got The Rage. Ahem, swiftly moving on…
I ordered a personalised hoodie and two photo mugs. Here I am with my mugs out (that’s an ‘m’ not a ‘j’)….
First up… the hoodie!
I ordered a navy zip-up in size large (£27), which is perfect – snug enough to be cosy but big enough to feel kind of like I’ve borrowed it off a boy, and hoodies always feel better when you’ve borrowed them off a boy.
The material is super soft and comfortable, thin but slightly fleecy on the inside, and the hood is double layered. Two front pockets mean my phone has a home and I can fit in extra necessities like lipbalm and snacks, plus my hands have somewhere to snuggle on the walk to Uni.
I requested white ‘Impact’ text to stand out against the navy material, but there was a weeny breakdown in communication between the company and I, as I wanted it to say ‘Stacey says Dance’ and it came with the more iconic ‘Stacey says Relax’ (if you don’t know what this is a reference to then shame on you!)
I was so chuffed with the hoodie though I wasn’t too bothered about this alteration, as it still looks SUPER!
For the front I was a bit stuck for ideas, so plumped for a big ‘S’ (like Superwoman) and ‘I am a Hoodie’ (ambiguity – am I a hoodie or is the hoodie, a hoodie?)
The images on the left are what you can see on the website – it’s great to visualise what the finished product will look like and you can play around with fonts, colours and layouts easily – be warned, this could take some time as you have many options!
Also, none of this ‘pay per letter’ bullsh*t some printing companies impose – (OK if your name is Jo but not Elizabeth), T Shirt Studio will charge you the same amount no matter how much text you want to include. The only extra cost comes if you want it embroidered (£2 extra) or done in diamantes (£3 extra).
So my new hoodie is just PERFECT for many student-ey tasks, you can…
As you can see me and my housemates had a lot of fun testing out how suitable the hoodie is for everyday tasks, instead of writing our dissertations.
Next up… the mugs!
The personalised mugs I got were fabulous! From £7, they are the perfect size for a cuppa, with a smooth, shiny finish and good quality graphics, (packaged in 100% recycled materials might I add).
Had to do a test-run on it’s tea-holding capabilities (obviously) – no leakages there, and a thoroughyl successful tea-drinking session was ensued, as is visible below.
This cup is for my dear mother for Mothers Day (3rd April – don’t forget!) so I will have to wash it and repackage it up for her! Also got one for my brother, which is right here… (Hope neither of them see this before I give it to them)
As you can see I plyed on the fact that the mugs can be printed on both sides. If you have a long landscape picture you can also have a ‘wraparound mug’, but who’d want the ugly mugs above stretched round a mug. Not me!
One of my other favourite items from the site is this jigsaw (£14)- HOW cute? you can also get it to have ‘Happy Birthday’ cut out in the middle, or come in the shape of a heart. Awwww…
Delivery was fast – dispatched within 2 working days, and they can ship internationally. No reason your Great Aunt in Bulgaria has to miss out on a T-shirt with your face on it!
