I’ve never been a fan of the term plus size, or categorising anyone on the premise of their weight or body shape for that matter. But alas this is fashion, and if fashion does anything well it is segregating on the foundation of figure. I mean we can’t all be size 6 super models gracing the catwalks so elegantly, but then again not all of us want to be and therein lies the pertinent point. Women come in all shapes and sizes and that’s ok!
In what can only be seen as a blatant indirect at Victoria’s Secret, Lane Bryant has attempted to set the record straight in their new campaign #ImNoAngel.
The campaign aims to promote body diversity, as well as of course their new Cacique line.
“The women who wear Cacique know that sexy comes in many shapes and sizes. They’re no angels—and they own it.”
With the use of the hashtag, #ImNoAngel, the campaign hopes to take social media by storm by encouraging women to upload photos of themselves owning who they are. It will be interesting to see how it pans out in the coming days and weeks and if we see an onslaught of instagram pictures using the hashtag.
