That little something extra added to an outfit in the form of beading, brooches, blooms and bows can really be the finishing touch.
These are my budding collections of corsages and brooches that I have accumulated from a crazy mix of places including (dead and alive) family members, charity shops, high st shops and items of clothing themselves. I even made the two on the right hand side of each picture. Making brooches from scraps of material is easy-peasy; just scrunch or fold the material into a messy ‘flower’ or cute bow and sew into place. You could also use felt or a similar thick material to cut out shapes and layer then on top of one another. Add buttons, jewels or kitch lil’ badges as a focal point and just safety pin your home-made masterpieces to your stuff as you please!
See how SJP’s makes her bright crop jacket pop?
And how cool is this tape-measure brooch! Now, if I could just get my hands on a tape measure…
