The September issue of fashion magazines has long been the most important of the year. However, with the average magazine price always on the rise, I will be investigating all of the major magazines’ September issues to see which, if any is the best value for money.

As a regular reader of Vogue (even one of the lecturers on my course recommends we get a subscription), I am tempted to say their September issue is the one worth handing over your £4 for. It features Kate Moss on the cover and  has her modeling new collections. It also contains detailed previews of the collections, an interview with Giorgio Armani, news on new talent, a lot on coats, and the usual features on lifestyle and beauty.

There are also other magazines worth buying instead, or alongside Vogue.
Vogue’s biggest competitor Elle magazine has Emily Blunt on the cover of the September issue and it features an interview with her alongside the new season collections. It also features the new beauty collections, and their own music hotlist, as well as interviews with stylist Arianne Phillips and Washington Post editor Robin Givhan.

Elle

The third major contender in the fashion magazine September issue stakes is Harper’s Bazaar. The September issue of this magazine features Gisele Bundchen on the cover, and also an interview with the model. There is also an interview with model, Alice Delal, and her family as well as a preview of Giles Deacon’s collection with the English National Ballet. Other regular magazine features follow.

Bazaar

Cosmopolitan is not necessarily just a fashion magazine like the previous three, however it does also have a sizeable September issue, featuring Leighton Meester on the cover.

Cosmopolitan

The sizes of the September issues are bigger, and have larger advertising space. This shows that the September issues will probably always be the most important.

With all this in mind, even though various other magazines’ September issues are tempting, I think I’ll still be buying Vogue. Though it is probably the most expensive, I’m too loyal to not buy it. However, I might just buy Harper’s Bazaar too. What are you favourites?
