Definition Primadonna: a very temperamental person with an inflated view of their own talent or importance. We all know one of these, er, people and some of us could easily be classified as one…. Awkward.
Its understandable though, it really is. The Primadonna life is that of opulence and adoration, two things that everyone craves, and the “all-I-ever-wanted-was-the-world” attitude is an illustrious one when applied in the right way.
Of course attitude is a key thing that helps us portray our fashion anatomy, and in the case of the Primadonna, its ubiquitous. A combination of innocence and charm, mixed with the occasional drop of chic.
Fit and Flare style dresses, peplum tops, sparkly heels and rose-gold earrings are the must haves for a beginner Primadonna, as they add the “I-get-what-I-want-because-I-ask-for-it” air. In a nutshell, its cuteness but with a bitchy, conceited under-side.
To pull the Primadonna look off, you have to get the right end of the colour spectrum.
Tom Ford Primadonna Examples
Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection was immensely reflective of this style. Pink is the essential colour for this, accompanied with White, Gold and a hint (and I mean a hint, don’t over-do it or it will turn into punk princess style) of Black.
You can also diversify the look with splashes of light Blues and Greens. In Ford’s collection, he regularly fused Gold with his creations, giving the couture a look of splendour. Like everything in this world, this style can be copied, but if you really want to be original you can re-invent it.
New Look did this really well, and you might want to take style advice from them as they won big in the High Street Fashion Awards 2012 (congrats).

There are more the examples of Primadonna style. A major influence of this style is Marina and the Diamonds. It was her fashions and her song ‘Primadonna’ that inspired me write this article.

She dresses in this way and adds different prints and textures to distinguish this look as her own. Its not that difficult to do when you know how, and its a mode that never gets old; it just gets fresher. So there we are darlings, get styling!
