This Sunday saw the start of my favourite time of year. The time when celebrities all come together to praise each other’s talents, and look absolutely beautiful doing it. It all kicked off with the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in sunny L.A. This year the variety and quality of nominees was so high the red carpet just seemed to be an A-List reunion. With the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence and many, many more in attendance, the red carpet was nothing less than a glamour fest! Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were back at their funniest, hosting this year’s show, while American Hustle scooped 3 awards on the night, and Leonardo DiCaprio won best actor for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street, which makes him look like a good contender to finally win his first Oscar.
Some of the hot designers seen on the red carpet this year were the likes of Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta and Gucci, while the trending colours seemed to be reds and nudes. Check out my top five looks from the red carpet.
Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren
This beautiful Ralph Lauren dress really makes 12 Years a Slave star, Lupita Nyong’o a real contender for best dressed. The bright red is a pop of colour and looks beautiful against Lupita’s complexion. But its the beautiful off the shoulder, cape combination that makes it something new and exciting for the carpet. Lupita accessorised perfectly with a pair of simple diamond studs. She’s definitely one to watch.
Margot Robbie in Gucci
You may not of heard of Margot Robbie yet, but you sure will know her soon. The Australian beauty has had her big breakthrough starring along side Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, but this Gucci dress made sure she wasn’t to go unnoticed. The beautiful neck line and side split add a little skin to the gown. But it’s the emerald tone embellishments and shoes to match which make this dress a cut above the rest. I’m excited to see what she pulls out for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta
Zooey Deschanel is the queen of girly glamour and did not fail us in this Oscar de la Renta, crop top and skirt combo. A crop top and skirt really shouldn’t work at the Golden Globes, but the embellishment and attention to detail on this ivory combo make it a real triumph. Let’s not forget those gorgeous matching shoes. Thumbs up Zooey.
Amy Adams in Valentino
American Hustle star and Globe nominee Amy Adams, looked divine in this hot red number. The two toned dress looked amazing against her complexion. The halter neckline and plunge front add some subtle sexiness to the carpet. While her diamond necklace, earrings and ring add some sparkle.
Amber Heard in Versace
The young starlet looked amazing in this deep blue satin Versace dress. The asymmetric neck line and cross over detailing give Heard a beautiful silhouette. While the side split and gorgeous up do complete her look.
