Who are Get the Label?

Clothing website, Get The Label (GTL) is an online fashion store (and mail-order catalogue) selling clothing, footwear and accessories often with up to 75% off.

A relative newbie to the online clothing market (launched in 2009) GTL have quickly become a varied and impressive retailer. Though they cater for men, women and children, the gist I get is that they excel at ‘street’ wear and sportswear, selling big brands like Gio-Goi, Nike, Voi and Penguin, all at mega-discounted prices.

Standard delivery is £3.95 – same as most UK retailers so no major problem there, and they give you 21 days for returns – better than most UK retailers so brownie points to GTL! Items can also be shipped outside the UK to other European countries.

My Review

I road-tested three GTL items. First up is the Rare floral pocket dress

The floral satin rose dress is the perfect style for summer. It’s ruched around the middle (nice and flattering) but I found it quite snug around the chest. Now I’m not ridiculously proportioned in that respect so I think that this dress would fit more boyish frames slightly better than curvy girls, as the boned corset-like middle would nip the body in at the waist and give a more hourglass silhouette.

The zip fastening to the side needed more than a little help to do up – I ordered a 10 (which I believe I am unless my recent over-indulgence has caught up with me quickly!) but it was a different size-10 than the black dress reviewed later in this post.

That’s the main problem I have with ordering from websites that stock a range of brands – yes you get variety but the sizing can be inconsistent, and you may just have to try your luck!

The dress itself is lovely though, and would be gorgeous at a wedding, on a night out or at any party where you want to look hot!

Next up is a chic Little Black Dress (LBD). As many of you women will know the LBD is a must-have and often turns into your reliable go-to dress for when you just want to feel good.

This black dress from Elise Ryan at GTL (sadly sold-out!) is a sleek and classic version of the LBD – fitted, strapless and silky, but with slight twists.

The central embellishment draws attention to the waist (= winner!), and the soft chiffon draping fabric adds detail in a subtle Grecian way.

Being a plain fabric, the back of the dress didn’t do as much for me, but I felt quite sophisticated in it. It needs a bit of rocking up in my opinion, so I’d wear it with messy hair down, black nailpolish and studded accessories.

Finally for the pièce de résistance: the ‘All that Glitters is Gold’ cape from Frock and Frill.

This item was my favourite of the three by far. I felt comfortable and had fun wearing it, as you can tell by my beaming face.

I loved the rich feel of the heavy fabric under all its embellishments. This again was a size-10 but would fit a broader range of sizes as it is not as fitted as the dresses.

I wore it with high-waisted shorts and high-waisted black jeans. I think high-waisted is the way to go with these kind of tops unless you don’t mind flashing a bit more flesh around the midriff!

The central zip runs down the front of the top (ey-up) and I love how the design in the beading and sequins is asymetric and different on the back and front.

I also love how it includes black, gold and silver, such that many of your accessories will go with it well. Not that it needs much accessorising – this top is about as glitzy as it gets!

The zig-zag butterfly hem is flattering and cool, and the vintage feel is tres chic.

Overall, the cape is perfect for all sorts of nights out, posh meals, gigs and quirky dates!
