Kelis turned up to the Los Angeles Data Awards last week sporting this bizarre outfit:

I thought I was high and hallucinating when I first saw these pictures: “duuuuude…. the statue of liberty’s alive and it’s wearing Alexander McQueen lobster claws with a pink latex jumpsuit ….”, “no waay, dude,,..you’re just out of it”. But it’s not a bad trip and she actually did turn up to some awards show that I’ve never heard of, looking like a creature from a pink lagoon.
Maybe she thought she was auditioning for a Stargate, Atlantis episode. I dunno, but whatever her thought process it makes for a pretty good Barmy Monday. Hit me up with some comments. Ps. Kelis is currently working on her sixth album, FleshTones, due for release later this year.
FYI: The shoes Kelis is wearing are Alexander McQueen, spring 2010 collection. They’re called Armadilloes but colloquially everyone refers to them as ‘lobster claws’. Lady Gaga wore them in her ‘Bad Romance’ video, and fashion eccentrics are going to be sporting them this season. Which other celebrity do you think will wear them, or are you brave enough?
